The Poverty of Philosophy is Karl Marx's response to Pierre-Joseph Proudhon's Philosophy of Poverty. First published in 1847, the book sharply criticises Proudhon for his poor grasp of economics and German philosophy, and is in part responsible for the early split between Marxist socialists and anarchists in the First International.
