Stalinism vs. Marxism-Leninism

"Stalinism" is almost always a detracting term, as opposed to "Marxism-Leninism". Are they synonymous? Harrystein (talk) 15:31, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

While Stalinism is often used as a mere insult by groupings such as Trotskyists, Stalinism is more than a "detracting term." The term "Stalinism" was historically used in the Soviet Union under the governance of Joseph Stalin to refer to his unique application of Bolshevism in constructing socialism. Later, anti-revisionists have used the term Stalinism to refer to themselves. Modern communist organizations such as the Anasintaxi also declare their ideological position to be Stalinism. Regarding "Stalinism" and its relation to Marxism–Leninism, it would depend on the context. Organizations like the aforementioned Anasintaxi regard Stalinism (or Marxism–Leninism–Stalinism) as being the modern form of Marxism–Leninism into the age of the completed construction of socialism.
