Maoism should redirect to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism

Maoism should be a redirect to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism for a number of reasons. Most notably, rarely ever do communists (Maoist or not) ever call a trend other than MLM "Maoism." The only people, largely, who refer to Mao Zedong Thought and China under Mao Zedong as "Maoism" or "Maoist" are non-communists who do not understand this subject. Virtually all self-declared Maoists are followers of MLM. Additionally, in case any ambiguity does arise from the naming, we could simply have a hatnote on the top of the page linking to the disambiguation page. Thank you. The case against redirecting to MLM (from a Maoist)

While I think the points raised in favor of a redirect to the MLM page are reasonable, I think we need to keep in mind that this isn't just an encyclopedia of the present day. We're also documenting revolutionary history, and in this case that means we have to contend with the pre-RIM "Maoisms" of the New Communist Movement. The disambiguation page should absolutely clarify that Marxism-Leninism-Maoism as a new stage of revolutionary science is the modern meaning of the word, but it would be prudent to clarify that the Maoism of, say, the Revolutionary Communist League (Marxist-Leninist-Mao Tse-tung Thought) is distinct and though related as part of the anti-revisionist struggle in the NCM, isn't Maoist in the modern sense. --SpaceHaitian (talk) 17:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
