Leftypol.org was a small splinter site from /leftypol/ which was originally hosted in a hybrid imageboard format but eventually moved to a traditional forum design. The board was created by 'Cosmopolitan Mongrel' due to differences in philosophy over moderation and content curation, but was then passed on to a second unknown admin, who eventually closed the board. Leftypol.org's domain name was eventually passed on to the moderation team of /leftypol/ who later used it to host /leftypol/.
Since 2022, Leftypedia is hosted and maintained on leftypol.org servers and many users of that platform are editors.
