Ho Chi Minh thought is an ideology developed by the revolutionary Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam. It is a Marxist–Leninist ideology adapted for conditions of Vietnam and the Vietnamese revolution.

Characteristics

Ho Chi Minh thought is the mix of Marxism–Leninism, Vietnamese culture, eastern religious ideas (such as Confucionism or Buddhism) and the personal morality of Ho Chi Minh.[citation needed]

Ho Chi Minh thought is a left-wing nationalist ideology that believes in the liberation of country and its proletariat and national independence. It also puts a lot of emphasis on national defense, fostering revolutionary generations and building a strong vanguard party.

Another highly emphasized thought is the gradual transition to socialism. Putting emphasis on the fact that Vietnam before revolution was an agrarian society unfit for socialist conditions.[citation needed]
