Abimael Guzmán Reynoso (December 3, 1934–September 11, 2021), also known as Chairman Gonzalo (Spanish: Presidente Gonzalo), was a professor of philosophy at the university in Ayacucho and Peruvian leader of the Communist Party of Peru (Shining Path), which he later commanded from 1982 in the People's War in a offensive against the Peruvian government.
