Anarcho-syndicalism (French syndicalisme, from syndicat "trade union") is a variety of anarchism involving organising revolutionary trade unions that will lead a general strike in order to overthrow capitalism and the state. In direct opposition to Marxists, anarcho-syndicalists condemn political action, both electoral and otherwise, as a counterproductive activity which reinforces the current social order, favoring instead direct action and free association of workers' councils.[1][2]
