Address of the Central Committee to the Communist League is a 1850 speech by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels during the Revolution of 1848. The address is perhaps best known for its quotation concerning the arming of the working class during the revolution, today often interpreted (somewhat out of context) as a stance applicable to the question of gun control in the United States:
Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary.
