Workerism

Workerism may refer to any form of politics which glorifies and primarily focuses on the working class,[1] but it is often viewed as a separate ideology from orthodox Marxism, with more of a focus on a specifically idealised worker matching certain characteristics than the worker in the abstact.

In modern parlance, it is most often used as a pejorative, as an accusation that the so-called workerist is focused on the 'working class' as a subjective identity instead of as a strictly defined class in the Marxist sense. It is closely linked to the concept of the white working class, where a specific conservative, white, and rural blue collar individual is held us as a representative of the working class, with equally exploited and underpaid workers who are more cosmopolitan or white collar decried as middle class or 'professional managerial class'.
