Usage

Place {{Off topic|date=April 2024}} at the top of sections that seem unrelated or insufficiently related to the page's topic (if the date is omitted, bots will add it later).

If relevant, explain why on the article's talk page.

• This template will categorize tagged articles into Category:All articles that may have off-topic sections and the appropriate dated subcategory of Category:Wikipedia articles that may have off-topic sections.
• This template is a self-reference.
• This template should not be substituted.

Template parameters

This template prefers inline formatting of parameters.

Parameter		Description	Type	Status
1	1 article	The name of an article which is about the topic discussed in the off-topic section. Do not include square brackets.	Page name	optional
section	section	If this parameter is present and not empty, the text 'the topic of the article' will be changed to 'its topic' (referring to the topic of the section, if it differs from the rest of the article intentionally).	Boolean	optional
2	2 talksection	The name of a talk page section where discussion about this issue is taking place. Auto value	String	optional
