InfraWiki[note 1] is a "MAGA Communist"[1] syncretic wiki founded in October 2022 by a member of ProleWiki following his ban.[2] The site maintains virulently hateful and conspirationalist views, and has largely removed itself from Marxism entirely.[citation needed]
History
Founding
InfraWiki was founded in late 2022 by ex-ProleWiki administrator Jucheguevara[3][note 2] a few weeks after his ban from the latter site after his attempts at subverting it were discovered and its resultant rejection of Patriotic socialism and "MAGA Communism", of which were persuasions Jucheguevara adhered to.[2] InfraWiki was first announced on October 4, 2022, and was made accessible as a website later that month. Its main editors are largely followers of the Infrared media collective.[4]
Later events
Around New Year's Eve of 2022–2023, InfraWiki was heavily vandalized by a number of different online groups, including ProleWiki editors,[5] Left-communists from the "Revolutionary Technical Committee", and Hoxhaists who coordinated their actions on Discord.[6][7] Following this event, the sole administrator of InfraWiki, Jucheguevara, completely prohibited editing of the site for a week, and would only later allow editing rights again, albeit to less than a dozen editors who were hand-picked by the administrator.[5] Despite these measures, the site remains a persistent target of vandalism, largely because of its hateful views.[8]
Structure
Social media
InfraWiki has accounts on many media platforms, including the alt-right sites TruthSocial and Parler. InfraWiki's accounts have often faced banning or other restrictions due to the prevalence of reactionism, at times to the extent of hate speech, found in their rhetoric.[9]
Ideology
InfraWiki, like its parent organization, Infrared, espouses third-positionist and other reactionary ideology, claiming to both reject the "CIA's Synthetic Left, who are ultra-leftists" and the right-wing groupings of "fiscal conservatism" and "neoconservatism". Despite this, InfraWiki mostly takes traditionally far-right positions. They reject the land-back, LGBTQ+, and feminist movements entirely as a plot by the "deep state" for the "feminization of the working masses".[10] They also adopt transphobic positions, claiming that "transgenderism" is a "mental disorder".[11]
InfraWiki supports so-called "actually existing socialism" — that being China, Vietnam, Laos, Cuba, and North Korea — as well as the modern Russian Federation as an "anti-imperialist" power. However, they also view Nazism as being a form of Socialism.[12] The site itself acts as a means to augment the current personality cults venerating Patriotic socialist figures such as Caleb Maupin and Haz Al-Din, with their respective works and views on matters being regularly quoted and otherwise metioned in their articles, and the site's logo and name directly emulating those of the Infrared collective.
Content and sourcing
From its very inception, InfraWiki has denounced fundamental etiquette such as maintaining an encyclopedic tone and notability requirements as "liberal snobbery" which "excludes any coverage of genuine online phenomena".[4][note 3] This stance is heavily reflected in InfraWiki's articles, with them regularly containing slang or vulgar wording,[13] and the subjects of the articles commonly being little more than summations of live streams, YouTube videos, and other media which is itself trivial for the struggles of the working class.
InfraWiki uses extremely poor and unacademic sources as well. They regularly employ informal posts and other content from "MAGA Communist" accounts on YouTube, Telegram, and Twitter. The site advises far-right and conspiratorialist outlets such as Conservapedia, KeyWiki, and Wikispooks be used on their site,[14] and uses the content of far-right corporate news outlets such as Fox News as sources (including those delivered by the Neo-fascist pudit Tucker Carlson).[15] Despite their claimed ideological opposition to both Wikipedia and ProleWiki, the administrator and editorship of InfraWiki regularly and openly copy-and-paste content from those respective sites (ProleWiki in particular).[3] Many examples of InfraWiki's "sources" include little more than single tweets InfraWiki editors have posted which contain no sources themselves.[16]
