Template:Promotional tone/doc

When to use

Add this to articles that need help from other editors because they contain promotional language or material. This tag only applies to articles that are promoting a subject (rather than advertising something).

This template should be used if the problem is described by either, or both, of the following bullet points (from WP:PROMO):

• File:Yes check.svgY Advocacy, propaganda, or recruitment of any kind: commercial, political, scientific, religious, national, sports-related, or otherwise. An article can report objectively about such things, as long as an attempt is made to describe the topic from a neutral point of view.
• File:Yes check.svgY Self-promotion.

This template should not be used in an article if the following bullet point describes the problem ({{Advert}} should be used in this case):

• File:X mark.svgN Advertising, marketing or public relations. Information about people, organizations, issues, and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery.

This template adds articles to Category:Articles with a promotional tone.

How to use

• Place {{Promotional tone|date=May 2024}} at the top of the article.
• You can adjust the default "article" text with something more specific, such as: {{Promotional tone|article's "Controversy" section}}.
