George Soros is a Hungarian-American billionaire investor and philanthropist[1][2] with a net worth of $8.5 billion as of May 2023,[3][4] having donated more than $32 billion to the Open Society Foundations.[5] He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and his most important influence is the antisocialist Karl Popper. At one point he appointed his own tax lawyer to the Human Rights Watch board, exposing himself to ridicule and charges of cronyism.[6]

Soros has funded color revolutions[7] and worked with the CIA to help cause the dissolution of the Soviet Union.[8] He does not claim to be a Marxist or socialist but in fact is politically and economically a neoliberal[citation needed].
