/leftpol/ was a short-lived leftist board on 8chan, which splintered from /leftypol/ in 2017 after the board owner of /leftypol/ instituted more extreme moderation policies and many regular users were banned. After /leftpol/ was founded, /leftypol/'s user count drastically declined as a large number of users made the switch. However, a lack of effective administration and moderation began to take their toll quickly, and /leftpol/ passed through the hands of multiple board owners, but could not be salvaged. Eventually, the board was overrun with trolls and due to /leftypol/'s board owner taking a step back from active moderation (perhaps due to the failure to retain members), most users returned to /leftypol/.
